It can take a few years before someone can get their certification to be an accountant. Most places make people get a certain kind of degree, take certain kinds of courses, and pass certain kinds of tests. It becomes even more difficult if you are planning to become an accountant in any other country other than the one you were born in. In that case it requires more steps, and time. For example, if you want to become an accountant in Australia you have to deal with the CPA Australia.
To become an account in Australia from a place like the United States there are a lot of steps you must take. First you must have a Bachelors degree. There is no specification on what this degree is to be on. It can be on what ever you want and does not have to be on business or accounting. Then you have apply for assessment by the CPA Australia. This application will determine whether or not you are eligible to be assessed. If they decide that you are eligible for assessment then they will then look at your Bachelors degree. They will check to see if your Bachelors degree is equivalent to the required bachelor degrees from Australia. At this point two things can happen. They will either determine that your Bachelors degree is sufficient or not. If they do then you will receive confirmation. What you do next with this confirmation, is to send it to Australia’s immigration office along with your visa, and you are ready to become accountant. If they determine it is not then you have to complete the courses and pass the tests they tell you to take.
Becoming an accountant is definitely not easy. But once you get through everything you have to do, it can be a very rewarding career. It is well worth the time and trouble that is involved in trying to become one.
